  1. Evernorth lists XRPN after closing its Ripple-linked XRP treasury deal

Evernorth Holdings Inc. furnished an 8-K dated October 9, 2026 saying it closed the business combination with Pathfinder Digital Assets LLC, Ripple Labs Inc., and Arrington Capital SPAC I Inc. (formerly Armada Acquisition Corp. II). Nasdaq lists Class A common stock as XRPN and warrants as XRPNW. Ripple contributed 126,791,458 XRP, Arrington XRP Capital Fund, LP subscribed with 211,319,096.061435 XRP, and the Larsen Lam Children's Remainder Trust, described as Ripple-affiliated, subscribed with 50,000,000 XRP. Advance-funding investors exchanged about $214.05 million in cash plus 600,000 XRP. The filing set the Signing XRP Price at $2.36609 and the Closing XRP Price at $1.43069, and holders redeemed 18,463,753 SPAC Class A shares (about 80.3%) at about $10.58 for about $195.39 million.

  2. CFTC interim final rule keeps casino sportsbooks outside the swap definition

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission on October 9, 2026 published an interim final rule that codifies its view that casino-style gambling products, including sportsbook and casino-game wagers, are excluded from the swap definition. Chairman Michael S. Selig said those products are not derivatives and that the Commission is stating the limits of its remit. The IFR takes effect when it is published in the Federal Register, with written comments due on Regulations.gov within 30 days of that publication. It is a companion to, not a substitute for, the same-day proposal that would place event contracts inside the swap definition.

  3. Aave Labs asks to onboard USAT on Ethereum V3 Core and V4 Core Hub

Aave Labs posted an ARFC on October 9, 2026 asking the DAO to onboard USAT (Tether America USD) to the Aave V3 Core Instance and the Aave V4 Core Hub on Ethereum. The post says USAT is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., an OCC-supervised national trust bank, is subject to the GENIUS Act, and is redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars at token address 0x07041776f5007ACa2A54844F50503a18A72A8b68. Risk parameters would come from Risk Service Providers, then community feedback, a Snapshot if the ARFC is positive, and an AIP. Aave Labs said it has no financial relationship with Anchorage, Tether, or their affiliates and was not paid for the proposal.

  4. LlamaRisk queues Aave V4 cap doubles on Arc USDC and Ethena spokes

LlamaRisk posted a Risk Stewards note on October 9, 2026 for Aave V4. On the Arc Core Hub USDC Maple Spoke it would raise the USDC draw cap from 23 million to 46 million and the syrupUSDC add cap from 25 million to 50 million after the USDC draw cap hit full use and syrupUSDC add-cap use reached 87.8%, with the two largest syrupUSDC positions about 97% of the reserve at health factors 1.02 and 1.01. On the Ethereum Plus Hub Ethena Ecosystem Spoke it would lift the USDe add cap from 30 million to 40 million, USDC and USDT add caps from 6 million to 12 million, and matching draw caps from 6.375 million to 12 million, while moving USDC and USDT slope1 from 4.50% to 4.60% and the USDe base rate from 6.30% to 6.60%. Arc Core Hub USDC held 143.45 million added and 83.82 million drawn (58.4% utilization). Risk Stewards said they would implement the updates.

  5. Lido floats a post-quantum working group for validator keys, no budget yet

A Lido Research pre-proposal dated October 9, 2026 asks the DAO to form a small working group on post-quantum readiness for Lido validator infrastructure. It says Lido manages about 9 million ETH of validator signing keys, the largest BLS12-381 exposure in the ecosystem. Suggested work is an inventory of key-holding surfaces, a migration playbook aligned with protocol-layer post-quantum work, and coordination with the Ethereum Foundation post-quantum team launched in February 2026, plus Obol, SSV, and client teams. No budget is requested yet. The note cites EIP-8141 as CFI for Hegotá, a three-to-four-year Lean hash-based signature horizon, and a four-month path from public inventory to a DAO report.

  6. Spark Oct 22 spell would bridge 100 million sUSDS to Arbitrum

Spark posted technical scope on October 9, 2026 for the October 22, 2026 Sky spell. Item 1 would bridge 100,000,000 sUSDS from the Ethereum ALM Proxy to the Arbitrum ALM Proxy after the Arbitrum PSM3 fell from 57,993,876 sUSDS on September 16, 2026 to 32,608,532.69 on October 8, 2026, a net 1.15 million sUSDS a day over 22 days. On Ethereum SparkLend, WETH slope 2 would fall from 75% to 30%, and PYUSD, RLUSD, and USDG would share an 80% kink, SSR plus 0.20% base, 0.20% slope 1, and 15% slope 2. Recurring transfers would send 865,000 USDS and 45,000 USDS for November 2026 grants plus 341,970 USDS for SPK buybacks. An SPK Snapshot on Item 1 is slated to open October 12 and close October 15, with the spell on the October 22 executive vote.

  7. EIP-8440 draft: one proof instead of re-executing 21 GB of payloads

Ethereum Magicians opened a thread on October 9, 2026 for EIP-8440, Execution Chain Proofs, tied to consensus-specs pull request 5725. The draft says execution-layer chain sync becomes constant time: a node verifies one recursive proof covering every payload from the head beacon block back to the proof origin. Syncing from a weak subjectivity checkpoint would replace re-execution of roughly 1.1 x 10^5 payloads and 21 GB of payload data with a single verification. The thread is an initial draft as of October 9, 2026, with no external reviews listed as of October 10, 2026, and it is not a scheduled mainnet fork change.

  8. Kraken: Banking Circle EUR and GBP setup pause October 12 at 18:00 UTC

Kraken scheduled Banking Circle funding maintenance for October 12, 2026 at 18:00 UTC, lasting about 30 minutes through 18:30 UTC. During that window, new clients and first-time Banking Circle users may be unable to set up EUR and GBP deposits or withdrawals while virtual account creation and updates are unavailable. Existing clients who already use Banking Circle are not expected to be impacted. The incident remained scheduled as of our check.
