Crypto brief: September 13, 2026

DeFi forums carried the overnight tape while spot prices barely moved. The CoinGecko snapshot fetched at 00:17 UTC on September 13, 2026 put Bitcoin at $77,262, down 0.02% over 24 hours. Ether was $2,524.68, up 0.4%. Solana was $101.67, down 0.6%. Global market cap sat near $2.66 trillion, bitcoin dominance about 58.2%, and 24-hour volume about $45.7 billion.

TokenLogic asked Aave to stand up Umbrella coverage on Core WETH, USDC, and USDT after v4 deposits reached about $596 million. A separate ARFC would isolate 15 E-Modes that hold about $777 million of debt. Spark SAEP-22 would let designated Sky actors skip curator independence rules and queue vault changes before a poll closes. Compound’s August V4 note kept the $52 million program on track. A GitHub patch would put EIP-7623’s calldata floor on EIP-8130 type-0x79 transactions.

The tape sits next to Bitcoin history, Ethereum history, and Solana history. Pair the Aave, Spark, and Compound notes with DeFi and stablecoin, and the venue delays with how to check exchange and withdrawal status.

  1. TokenLogic files an ARFC to list Umbrella coverage on Aave v4 Core WETH, USDC, and USDT

TokenLogic's September 11 ARFC asks Aave to open general-purpose Umbrella markets on Core WETH, Core USDC, and Core USDT. The post puts v4 Ethereum deposits at about $596 million and active loans at about $226 million, with borrowing concentrated in WETH ($79.3 million), USDG ($79.2 million), USDC ($26 million), USDT ($21 million), and frxUSD ($20 million). Target liquidity is 800 ETH, 400,000 USDC, and 400,000 USDT, with 20-day cooldowns, 2-day unstake windows, and first-loss deficit offsets of 33 ETH, 15,000 USDC, and 15,000 USDT. USDG and frxUSD are left off for now; this is a proposal, not a live listing.

  2. Aave ARFC would isolate 15 E-Modes holding about $777 million of debt

Aave v3.7 added a per-E-Mode isolated flag so collateral outside an E-Mode cannot back borrows inside it. The September 11 ARFC would isolate 15 E-Modes, mostly wstETH and ETHx looping plus WETH and WPOL correlated categories on MegaETH, Gnosis, and Polygon, and de-isolate 3 where every borrowable asset already has a general market. Those E-Modes hold about $777 million of debt, of which about $45 million is in assets borrowable only inside an E-Mode. Only about $445,000 of that debt is backed by outside collateral (one Polygon wallet borrowing $376,000 of WPOL against USDC is 85% of that slice), and isolation would freeze those positions at current terms rather than unwind them.

  3. Spark SAEP-22 would exempt Sky actors from curator independence and let them queue early

Phoenix Labs filed SAEP-22 on September 11 to amend Spark's Risk Curation Framework. The note would exempt Sky-designated cancellation actors, including an Operational Executor Agent's Operational GovOps, from the curator and cancellation-authority independence rule that SAEP-20 put into Atlas PR #329, which merged on September 10, 2026. It would also let Curators queue changes before a poll closes if the timelock cannot become executable until at least 24 hours after the poll's expected close, with a 20-hour actual-close backstop for cancellations. Vault appointments, contract permissions, configured timelock delays, and risk parameters stay unchanged.

  4. Compound Foundation says the August V4 program stayed on track toward an 8 September Institutional Comet target

Compound Foundation's August V4 programme update, posted September 10, marked overall status as on track. The note says Institutional Comet launch preparation targeted 8 September, with partner, collateral, market-parameter, and assurance work still moving, and it does not confirm that the market went live. A 17 August relaunch presented the DAO-approved $52 million development program. The Treasury Management Committee recommended Steakhouse as primary curator for up to about 12 million USDC. The Merkl rewards migration proposal passed on 2 September, and a 14-18 September engineering offsite is listed for V4 specification sign-off.

  5. EIP-8130 patch would apply the EIP-7623 calldata floor so type-0x79 txs cannot undercut type-2

Pull request 12320, opened September 11, would make EIP-8130 require EIP-7623 and apply that calldata floor to 0x79 payload bytes. The author says type-0x79 has no data field, so the floor never binds, and a 20,000-zero-byte example prices a type-2 transaction at 221,000 gas versus about 129,000 for a self-paid 0x79 transaction, about 40% cheaper. The patch also floors payer_auth bytes. It is a draft for discussion, not a consensus change.

  6. Ethresear.ch asks EIP-8250 to tag nonce keys so Bloom filters can shrink VOPS storage

Gottfried Herold's September 8 Ethresear.ch note argues EIP-8250 should tag the first byte of each nonce key as a nonce type so binary one-shot nonces can be told from counter nonces. The goal is later compatibility with a Bloom filter that would cut the VOPS storage that weakly stateless nodes must hold. Keyed nonces live in a NONCE_MANAGER system contract, keys are 32 bytes, and a transaction can use up to 16 keys. The post is research, not a hard-fork schedule.

  7. Coinbase still reports degraded prediction-market trading after identifying a fix

Coinbase Status opened a prediction-market trading incident at 17:38 UTC on September 10 (10:38 PDT). The first note said some users may see degraded performance when trading prediction market contracts and that funds are safe. At 15:37 UTC on September 11 (08:37 PDT) the incident moved to identified, with a fix being implemented. As of this brief, Coinbase had not marked the incident resolved.

  8. Kraken opened a new Sui deposit and withdrawal delay at 04:36 UTC on September 12

Kraken Status opened a new Sui funding-delay incident at 04:36 UTC on September 12, separate from the September 11 SUI incident that ended about 10:03 UTC. The new note says deposits and withdrawals may be delayed while the Sui funding gateway is investigated, and that other funding methods are operating normally. Affected components include SUI, USDC on Sui, and several Sui-network tokens. As of this brief, the incident was still investigating.
