Tuesday’s tape jumped, and the filings kept pace. The CoinGecko snapshot fetched at 00:14 UTC on September 22, 2026 put Bitcoin at $86,330, up 5.84%. Ether was $2,769.36, up 3.59%. Solana was $118.53, up 5.80%. Global market cap sat near $2.94 trillion, bitcoin dominance about 58.8%, and 24-hour volume about $159.6 billion.

Strategy bought 950 bitcoin last week and now lists 846,000 BTC. Bitmine reported 5,983,940 ETH. DeFi Development grew its SOL and SOL-equivalents stack by 101,381 tokens. The CFTC scheduled an October frontier forum on AI and agentic finance. Gateway.fm reimbursed Lido 1.0054 ETH after August validator faults. Researchers posted Lean 4 consensus specs that pass pyspec vectors. Coinbase moved WMTX-USD to limit-only after a third-party token incident.   1. Strategy adds 950 BTC and lifts its stack to 846,000

    On September 21, 2026, Strategy filed an 8-K covering September 14 through September 20. It bought 950 bitcoin for $75.7 million at an average $79,670, inclusive of fees, using USD Cash, and listed 846,000 BTC at an aggregate purchase price of $63.80 billion (average $75,416). It sold no shares under its at-the-market program. In the same window it bought back 1,771,238 STRC shares for $174.0 million, leaving a $5.04 billion USD Reserve and $1.05 billion of USD Cash as of September 20 after $57.4 million of the reserve went to preferred dividends and interest.

  2. Bitmine ether stack hits 5.98 million tokens, or 4.9% of supply

    Bitmine furnished an exhibit dated September 21 saying that as of 9:00 p.m. ET on September 20 it held 5,983,940 ETH priced at $2,688 on Coinbase, plus 212 BTC, a $180 million Beast Industries stake, a $105 million Eightco (NASDAQ: ORBS) position, and $714 million of cash and marketable securities. Combined crypto, cash, and those other holdings totaled $17.1 billion. The ETH stack is 4.9% of a 122.1 million ETH supply in the exhibit, 5,067,309 ETH is staked ($13.6 billion at $2,688), and the company said it acquired 27,562 ETH over the prior week.

  3. DeFi Development grows its SOL treasury to 2.49 million tokens

    DeFi Development Corp. said in a September 21 8-K that SOL and SOL equivalents rose by 101,381 between September 14 and September 18, to 2,490,304 from 2,388,923 on September 11, a 4% week. The company said treasury SOL is meant for staking, validator, and onchain infrastructure, subject to market conditions. A furnished press release also said the CHAD over-allotment closed for about $1.65 million of gross proceeds through 206,250 additional Variable Rate Series C preferred shares.

  4. CFTC Innovation Task Force books an October AI finance forum

    On September 21, 2026, the CFTC Innovation Task Force announced the Frontier Forum Series, a run of public roundtables on technologies reshaping U.S. financial markets. The first forum, focused on artificial intelligence and agentic finance, is set for Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Agenda, speakers, and registration will be posted later, and in-person seats may be limited. Chairman Michael S. Selig said the Commission needs to engage the people building, using, and studying those tools.

  5. Gateway.fm pays Lido 1.0054 ETH after two August validator incidents

    On September 21, Gateway.fm AS, Curated module operator 35, posted a Lido research post-mortem covering two August 2026 incidents. Neither involved slashing or stake at risk, the operator said. Eight validators ran without a signer for 7.5 to 13.1 hours, then about 7,300 validators produced invalid signatures for 75 minutes during recovery, with roughly 0.0117 ETH and 0.892 ETH of missed rewards. Four exit-bus requests lagged as long as 14 hours 15 minutes, and Gateway reimbursed 1.0054 ETH to the Execution Layer Rewards Vault on September 2, 2026, matching the NOM workstream figure.

  6. Etheorem Lean 4 consensus specs now pass pyspec vectors on three forks

    On September 21, researchers posted an Ethresear update on Etheorem, a project to write Ethereum consensus specs as executable Lean 4. The Lean 4 specification now passes the pyspec vectors for the state transition, fork choice, and the containers it models on three forks, Fulu, Gloas, and Heze, including both the mainnet and minimal presets. The stack sits on SizzLean for SSZ with machine-checked proofs and EthCLLib as the authoring framework, with fork bodies inheriting only the pieces that change.

  7. Coinbase pauses WMTX deposits and puts WMTX-USD in limit-only

    At 11:19 PDT on September 21, Coinbase said it paused deposits and moved the WMTX-USD pair to limit-only on Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Advanced after a third-party security incident involving the token. Limit orders can be placed and canceled, and matches may occur, but market orders cannot be submitted. The issuer was investigating, and Coinbase said it would update as more information arrived. The notice was still in investigating status when posted.

  8. Kraken delays DOG Runes withdrawals while a funding fix lands

    Kraken opened a minor incident at 22:07 UTC on September 21 for the DOG (Bitcoin) Runes funding gateway. Withdrawals may be delayed. Other funding methods were operating normally, the status page said. At 22:23 UTC Kraken said the issue had been identified and a fix was being implemented, with the DOG Runes funding component still listed as degraded.
