Thursday gave back the bounce. The CoinGecko snapshot fetched at 00:36 UTC on September 24, 2026 put Bitcoin at $84,408, down 2.50%. Ether was $2,690.24, down 2.78%. Solana was $115.55, down 3.03%. Global market cap sat near $2.88 trillion, bitcoin dominance about 58.8%, and 24-hour volume about $243.5 billion. UNI dropped 11.00% to $9.31. The range is the story again, only this time the tape is softer. FCA chief executive Nikhil Rathi said tokenisation has to leave the sandbox. PowerCompute and Cypherpunk posted mining updates. go-ethereum shipped v1.17.6 with Sepolia’s Amsterdam date. Aave moved wstETH and USDe caps, Sky queued a Gauntlet USDC vault, researchers mapped post-Poseidon hashes, and Coinbase closed delayed Avalanche sends. Map the tape with Bitcoin history, Ethereum history, and How to read a crypto market snapshot. Keep liquidity and stablecoin notes nearby if treasuries and vaults are the day’s stack.

FCA tells wholesale markets to leave the tokenisation sandbox
FCA chief executive Nikhil Rathi spoke at a TheCityUK dinner sponsored by Nasdaq on September 22, 2026, and the text was published on September 23. He said HSBC Orion is the first firm approved to provide live Digital Securities Depository services, and that firms want production rather than more pilots after a fund tokenisation policy statement in April, a native tokenised fund authorisation in June, and a stablecoin regime finalised before the summer. A joint tokenisation roadmap with the Bank of England is coming, and the FCA intends to consult on safeguarding rules for relevant tokenised investment assets after also seeking views on gold tokenisation this month. Some estimates he cited put a potential UK GDP benefit around £33 billion a year; that is an industry estimate, not an FCA forecast.

PowerCompute refreshes miners for about 39% more hashrate per box
PowerCompute (Nasdaq: PWCM) filed an 8-K dated September 23, 2026 describing a Bitcoin miner refresh. It will install 1,000 Bitmain Antminer S19 XP units averaging 132 TH/s in Oklahoma by September 30, replacing S19J Pro machines at 100 TH/s or below, then move those Pros to Mississippi to replace S19s averaging 95 TH/s, taking expected hashrate to about 822 PH/s from 771 PH/s on June 30, 2026. A September 22 order for 940 more S19 XPs in October would lift that to about 862 PH/s, or 11.8% above June 30, at about 21.5 J/TH versus about 34 for retired units and a combined cost of about $400,000 from cash and bitcoin. As of August 31, 2026 it held 323 bitcoin, valued at about $27.8 million using a bitcoin price of about $86,000 on September 21.

Cypherpunk adds a mining director and books 3,023 ZEC
Cypherpunk Technologies (Nasdaq: CYPH) filed an 8-K for September 22, 2026 appointing Amanda Fabiano as a Class III director, with RSUs covering 250,000 shares. The exhibit says she is chief operating officer of Nakamoto and an independent director at TeraWulf, after mining roles at Galaxy and Fidelity. The same release says Cypherpunk Mining launched in August with about 4.2 GSol/s of Zcash hashrate in the United States and generated 3,023.13 ZEC from August 18 to August 31, 2026, all added to the corporate treasury. The filing is a board appointment; the ZEC print is the first operating figure on that mining launch, not a claim that Zcash mining is the whole company.

Geth v1.17.6 dates Amsterdam on Sepolia for October 6
go-ethereum tagged v1.17.6 at 02:21 UTC on September 23, 2026 as a maintenance release with faster block processing and initial sync, recommended for all users. Sepolia's Amsterdam hard fork is scheduled at timestamp 1791294816, which is October 6, 2026, 13:53:36 UTC, so Sepolia operators need to upgrade before then. The tag removes the Holesky testnet after end-of-life, drops Go 1.24, and ships binaries built with Go 1.27. Fork work includes parallel block execution driven by the block-level access list; this is a client release, not a mainnet fork date.

Aave Risk Stewards double wstETH borrow and cut Core USDe
LlamaRisk posted Aave V3 Risk Steward cap changes on September 22, 2026 and said it will implement them through the Risk Steward process. On Aave V3 Core, wstETH borrow cap utilization was 99.8% (13,977 of 14,000), so the cap doubles to 28,000, while the USDe borrow cap falls from 700,000,000 to 100,000,000 after 11.1% utilization. On Aave V3 Plasma, USDe supply sat at 100% of a 550,000,000 cap and the steward raises that supply cap to 750,000,000. LlamaRisk noted a median 1.11 health factor among top wstETH borrowers and a 64.6% share for the largest Plasma USDe supplier; caps are not a new listing.

Sky Osero queues a Gauntlet USDC Morpho vault for October 8
On September 23, 2026, Sky's Osero desk proposed an October 8 spell to onboard the Osero x Gauntlet USDC Prime Vault (ogusdcp), a Morpho Vault V2 on Ethereum mainnet. Actors would mint USDS, swap it to USDC through the Lite PSM, and deposit into the vault, with the ALM Proxy holding tokens and shares. Readbacks refer to Ethereum mainnet block 26025265 (September 21, 2026, 10:22:35 UTC) and chainlog 1.20.20. Execution still needs Core Council Risk Advisor confirmation, Atlas consent, and Gauntlet readiness, and the September 24 Osero spell is not a prerequisite.

Ethresear maps hash choices after Poseidon for Ethereum
Dmitry Khovratovich posted Post-Poseidon: Hash Function Variants for Ethereum on Ethresear.ch at 09:50 UTC on September 23, 2026. He argues that Flock, a post-quantum proof system for binary circuits, means Ethereum no longer needs a circuit-friendly hash just because a protocol will be proven. Remaining use cases include consensus-layer XMSS-style signatures, post-quantum aggregation (a LeanVM variant today), the execution-layer state tree (Keccak now), SPHINCS+-style signatures, and recursive proving inside a zkVM. The post compares candidates; it is not a core-dev vote to replace Keccak.

Coinbase closes delayed Avalanche sends and receives
Coinbase Status opened Delayed Sends/Receives - Avalanche (AVAX) at 19:01 PDT on September 22, 2026 (02:01 UTC on September 23). The note said AVAX sends and receives were delayed, while buys, sells, and fiat rails were not affected and funds were safe. Identified, monitoring, and resolved updates were all stamped 13:40 PDT on September 23, 2026 (20:40 UTC). This is a venue delay, not an Avalanche chain halt.
