Crypto brief: November 6, 2026

Why today matters

The bounce from yesterday did not hold. Bitcoin was $76,080, down about 5.72% on the 24-hour print, and ether was $2,238.23, down 7.86%, in a CoinGecko snapshot fetched at 2026-11-06T00:23:56+00:00. Solana printed $89.70 (down 6.36%). Combined market cap sat near $2.58 trillion, with bitcoin share about 59.3% and 24-hour volume near $103.7 billion.

Hyperliquid Strategies posted $620.6 million of quarterly net income that was mostly unrealized HYPE gains, and said it filed to become a futures commission merchant. The CFTC told designated contract markets to drop domestic geographic access limits within 30 days. Reth shipped v2.10.0, LlamaRisk asked Aave V3 to reverse some October 30 borrow-cap cuts, Magicians opened ERC-8486, Coinbase is investigating disabled EVMSEI sends, and Kraken is pausing Zcash funding from 01:30 to 07:30 UTC today.

  1. Hyperliquid Strategies posts $620.6 million of net income, mostly HYPE paper gains

Hyperliquid Strategies Inc (NASDAQ: PURR) furnished an 8-K for an earliest event on November 4, 2026, and on November 5 issued Exhibit 99.1 for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company reported $12.3 million of staking revenue and validator commissions, $1.0 million of interest income, $7.6 million of SG&A and R&D, and $620.6 million of net income, which it said was driven mainly by $803.0 million of net unrealized gains on HYPE tokens. CEO David Schamis said the firm deployed $802 million in the quarter, including $785 million to buy 9.1 million HYPE (the treasury rose from 29.3 million to 38.5 million tokens at September 30), and filed an application to become a futures commission merchant. That FCM filing is an application, not a license, and the profit print is mark-to-market, not Hyperliquid protocol cash.

  2. Circle Q3: $865 million of revenue, 3.5% reserve return, $73.3 billion average USDC

Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL) furnished an 8-K dated November 4, 2026, with Exhibit 99.1 for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Average USDC in circulation was $73.3 billion, up 8% year over year, while end-of-period circulation was $73.9 billion, described as flat versus a year earlier. Total revenue and reserve income was $865 million, up 17%; net income from continuing operations was $226 million, up 5%; and the reserve return rate was 3.5%, down 61 basis points. Other revenue of $207 million included $182 million from the Arc token presale, so that line is not a run-rate USDC fee print.

  3. CFTC tells DCMs to drop domestic geographic access limits in 30 days

On November 5, 2026, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued release 9323-26, an interpretation of Commission Regulation 38.151(b) on impartial access at designated contract markets. Chairman Michael S. Selig said geographic access restrictions are inconsistent with the Commodity Exchange Act. DCMs must cease domestic geographic restrictions that violate the impartial-access rule within 30 days, or explain to the Division of Market Oversight why that is not feasible, and they should also make sure intermediaries are not blocking that access. The release does not license a new contract and does not name a venue.

  4. Reth v2.10.0 is a high-priority node patch, not a mainnet fork

Paradigm's Reth execution client shipped v2.10.0 at 2026-11-05T16:18:11Z as a hardening release, with High update priority for payload builders and for other node operators. The notes say it fixes an engine-thread panic after a reorg below the persisted tip, bounds eth_callBundle work, and stops reth download from deleting files outside the datadir. The tag can be downgraded to v2.9.0. This is a client binary, not an Ethereum mainnet fork.

  5. LlamaRisk asks Aave V3 to reverse part of the October 30 borrow-cap cuts

At 2026-11-04T18:34:18Z LlamaRisk posted Risk Stewards: Cap and IRM Changes on Aave V3 / 2026.11.04. On Aave V3 Core it recommends lifting the cbBTC borrow cap from 149 to 250 and WBTC from 749 to 900, a partial reversal of the October 30, 2026 reductions, with figures as of November 4, 2026. On Arbitrum it would lift USDC's borrow cap from 172 million to 200 million (96.3% utilized at 165,630,578 / 172,000,000) and raise USDC Slope1 from 4.20% to 4.30%. This is a steward recommendation, not a passed governance vote.

  6. Magicians draft ERC-8486, a flash-loan proxy in transient storage

At 2026-11-05T13:13:39Z Ethereum Magicians opened ERC-8486: Flash Loan Proxy. The draft describes a proxy that caches a program and calldata in transient storage, then DELEGATECALLs a fixed implementation so callback-heavy strategies do not need a new contract deploy for each program. It does not define a virtual machine or execution semantics. Treat it as a discussion thread, not a live mainnet standard or a scheduled hard fork.

  7. Ethresear.ch posts Walraswap, an equilibrium DEX design, not a live venue

At 2026-11-05T16:00:48Z ethresear.ch published Walraswap: equilibrium-based decentralized exchange integrating external AMM liquidity. The note says the design started in 2023 at Flashbots and aims for a full-set equilibrium price vector rather than the weaker uniform-clearing-price property used by some batch venues. It argues for public order flow and a DAO-elected solver set so censorship is detectable. The post is a research announcement, not a deployed protocol or an audit.

  8. Coinbase is investigating disabled EVMSEI sends and receives

Coinbase opened incident 5pgqt8s63hkf at 2026-11-04T19:05:30-08:00 (2026-11-05T03:05:30Z) titled Disabled Sends / Receives - EVMSEI, status investigating, impact none. The first update says some users may be unable to send or receive EVMSEI, while buys, sells, and fiat withdrawals and deposits are not affected, and that funds are safe. As of this brief there was no resolved update. This is a chain-specific send path, not an exchange-wide outage.

  9. Kraken pauses Zcash deposits and withdrawals 01:30-07:30 UTC for a hardfork

Kraken scheduled incident c4dm4xd1kmb3, ZCash (ZEC) Hardfork, for November 6, 2026, from 01:30 to 07:30 UTC (six hours). During that window Zcash deposits and withdrawals will be temporarily unavailable. The notice says all other funding methods and assets are unaffected and that no user action is required. At 2026-11-06T00:30:14Z Kraken posted that maintenance will begin as scheduled in 60 minutes. Trading is not described as paused, only ZEC funding.
