The overnight pile mixed preferred-stock coupons with protocol notes, not a new U.S. rule. Strategy set STRC’s November rate at 12% if the October 28 daily-dividend vote lands. Strive priced an upsized SATS preferred deal at $90 a share. Prysm v7.3.0, Magicians, Aave, Compound, Ethresear, and Spark fill out this crypto news brief. Yesterday’s October 16 brief still has DFDV’s CHAD raise and Cipher’s $850 million note pricing. For how we timestamp these prints, see how to read a crypto market snapshot.
Strategy sets STRC's November rate at 12% if the daily-dividend vote lands
Strategy Inc. said on October 15, 2026 that STRC's regular dividend rate will be 12.00% for record dates from November 1 through November 30, 2026, if a contingent condition is met. The board declared daily cash dividends of $0.03 or $0.04 per share that add up to $1.00 for those November record dates, with the first payment on November 2 and the last on December 1, 2026. Those daily checks pay only if stockholders approve Daily Dividend Amendments at a special meeting on October 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern, no later than 5:00 p.m. New York time on October 31, and the restated STRC certificate is effective by 12:01 a.m. Eastern on November 1. If that condition fails, the daily table is off, a previously declared November 15 dividend stays on, and management still wants the 12.00% rate kept until STRC has traded near $100 in a sustained, healthy way.
Strive prices an upsized 15% SATS preferred deal at $90 a share
Strive, Inc. priced 7,000,000 shares of 15.00% Series A Perpetual SATS Preferred Stock at $90 per share on October 15, 2026, an upsize of 2,000,000 shares over the amount previously announced. Gross proceeds are estimated at about $630 million before discounts and expenses, with settlement scheduled for October 20, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Barclays Capital Inc. and Cantor Fitzgerald and Co. are joint book-running managers, and Strive intends to use net proceeds for general corporate purposes, including bitcoin and bitcoin-related products, working capital, and/or repurchases of Class A common or SATA preferred. Regular dividends accrue at 15.00% on a $100 stated amount starting November 9, 2026, and at closing Strive intends to raise its dividend reserve by $22.50 per SATS share, equal to the first 18 months of payments as of the offering date.
Prysm v7.3.0 schedules Hoodi's Gloas fork and recommends a mainnet update
Offchain Labs published Prysm v7.3.0 on October 16, 2026 at 21:08 UTC. The tag schedules the Gloas fork on Hoodi at epoch 132352 (October 26, 2026 at 17:42:48 UTC) with a 200 million gas limit from the fork, and Hoodi operators must update beacon nodes and validator clients before then. On networks already on Gloas, beacon nodes and validator clients must upgrade together, because the V1 GetExecutionPayloadEnvelope gRPC endpoints now return FAILED_PRECONDITION. The notes also recommend that mainnet operators update their beacon nodes, and the validator client now waits up to 8 seconds on SIGINT or SIGTERM for the current slot's rewarded duties unless a second interrupt hits.
Magicians draft ERC-8420, a solver that leaves existing wallets unchanged
A Magicians draft posted October 16, 2026 at 08:23 UTC sketches ERC-8420, a Solver that coordinates User Intents while staying backward-compatible with existing smart wallets. Users would submit UserEnvelopeTx objects whose envelopeTx carries the wallet's already-signed transaction data, so wallets keep their current signing schemes. The write-up contrasts that with ERC-7521, which it says changes wallet architecture more deeply, and argues a shared Solver contract that wallets can choose to trust may ship faster. It is a draft thread, not a mainnet specification.
LlamaRisk queues tETH, WBTC, and cbBTC cap cuts on Aave V3
LlamaRisk posted Aave V3 cap changes on October 16, 2026 at 16:43 UTC. On Prime it would raise the tETH supply cap from 15,000 to 20,000, while on Core it would cut that cap from 300 to 1 so new tETH deposits stop there. It would also cut the Core WBTC borrow cap from 4,000 to 1,500, the Core cbBTC borrow cap from 1,440 to 500, and Arbitrum WETH borrows from 135,000 to 75,000. Prime held 15,189 tETH (about $46.9 million) against a 15,000 cap, or 101.3% utilization, with the largest position at 77.5% of the reserve and health factors between 1.02 and 1.07. These are Risk Steward recommendations dated October 16, 2026, not a finished on-chain vote.
Compound pauses supplier withdrawals on a deprecated Mantle USDe market
The Compound Foundation said on October 16, 2026 at 15:52 UTC that it is pausing supplier withdrawals on the deprecated Compound III USDe market on Mantle. The pause is meant to let an upcoming governance proposal withdraw that market's reserves without a withdrawal race. The post says withdrawals will be unpaused after that proposal executes successfully. The market is already labeled deprecated, so this is an operational pause for a wind-down step, not a new listing, and the note does not name a proposal ID or a reserve dollar figure.
Ethresear: front-of-block swaps still pay 8 to 17 times mid-block tips
A TEMBRI study posted to Ethresear on October 14, 2026, and corrected on October 15 after a base-fee decoding fix, measures priority fees across about 115,000 Ethereum blocks on 16 sampled days from July 2025 through October 2026. Swaps in the first 10% of block gas paid, on average, 8 to 17 times the priority fee of swaps between 30% and 60% of gas, on every day in the sample, with most of the drop happening before 20%. Absolute fee levels fell by about three quarters from 2025 to 2026, but that ratio did not. About half of swaps in the first 5% of gas paid no priority fee in early August 2026, versus about one in eight in early October, and the author attributes much of that drop in zero-tip front-of-block flow to Titan.
Spark queues Morpho vault timelocks to match Sky's Atlas rules
Spark posted a technical scope on October 16, 2026 at 14:40 UTC to bring two Morpho vaults in line with Sky Atlas timelock rules. On the Spark Blue Chip USDT vault it would set allocator add/remove and force-deallocate-penalty timelocks to zero, and raise the market adapter's abdicate and increase-timelock windows from 0 to 7 days and the skim-recipient window from 0 to 3 days. The Sentora x Spark RLUSD vault would get the same zero timelocks on allocator changes and the force deallocate penalty. A Snapshot poll in the sparkfi.eth space is slated for October 19 to 22, 2026, alongside SAEP-24, with adapter Item 2 queued after the poll closes on October 22.
