Crypto brief: September 27, 2026

Sunday opened a little greener on bitcoin and almost flat on ether. The CoinGecko snapshot fetched at 00:22 UTC on September 27, 2026 put Bitcoin at $84,261, up 0.25%. Ether was $2,690.13, down 0.02%. Solana was $120.81, down 1.09%. Global market cap sat near $2.90 trillion, bitcoin dominance about 58.3%, and 24-hour volume about $57.8 billion. Teucrium said BTCK is taking redemptions again after share count climbed back above 50,000. BGIN’s first-half 6-K showed mining revenue collapsing versus a year earlier. Solmate named a marketing chief as its SOL stack marked $146.7 million. Ethereum operators got Erigon 3.7.0 with Glamsterdam on Sepolia, Aave asked to refill Umbrella allowances, and Kraken was still watching a same-day ERC-20 deposit delay. Map the tape with Bitcoin history, Ethereum history, and Solana history, plus How to read a crypto market snapshot. Keep stablecoin and liquidity notes nearby if redemptions and Umbrella rewards are the day’s stack.

  1. Teucrium resumes BTCK redemptions after share count clears 50,000

Teucrium Trading, as sponsor of Teucrium Commodity Trust, said outstanding shares of the 7RCC Spot Bitcoin and Carbon Credit Futures ETF (ticker BTCK) rose above the 50,000-share floor after new creation orders. An August 31, 2026 8-K had said the sponsor was rejecting redemption orders that would push the fund below five baskets of 10,000 shares each. Because the count is back above that minimum, the sponsor is no longer rejecting redemptions on that basis, though it may do so again if shares return to 50,000 or for other prospectus reasons. The filing is explicit that resumed redemptions do not guarantee tighter bid-ask spreads or better secondary-market liquidity.

  2. BGIN first-half mining revenue falls to $5.8 million from $30.8 million

BGIN Blockchain Limited filed a 6-K on September 25, 2026 with unaudited results for the six months ended June 30, 2026. Mining revenue was $5,810,103, down from $30,797,322 a year earlier, and total revenue was $7,375,831 versus $47,663,674. Cryptocurrency intangible assets fell to $5,483,408 from $22,450,733 at year-end 2025. The company posted a $25,764,295 net loss ($0.23 per share) against a $60,405,721 loss a year earlier, while cash rose to $31,420,292 from $26,286,333 and property and equipment dropped to $18,282,220 from $27,317,731 after a $3,949,734 impairment.

  3. Solmate names a CMO as its SOL treasury marks $146.7 million

Brera Holdings PLC, which operates as Solmate Infrastructure (NASDAQ: SLMT), furnished a September 24, 2026 press release appointing Yaffa Cohen-Ifrah as chief marketing officer and head of investor relations, based in New York. The company said its public treasury dashboard showed about 1.24 million SOL worth approximately $146.7 million as of September 21, 2026, up from about $88 million in July 2026, a 67% increase it attributes to the market price of SOL. Solmate said it has not sold any SOL, the gains are unrealized, and the dashboard figures are unaudited point-in-time estimates that may differ from IFRS statements. CEO Ron Sade said the hire is meant to tell that treasury story to investors.

  4. Erigon 3.7.0 turns on parallel commitment and dates Sepolia Glamsterdam

Erigon v3.7.0 (Velvet Vibrissae) shipped on September 25, 2026 with parallel commitment enabled by default, persisted receipts on new datadirs, and faster eth_getLogs, eth_feeHistory, and eth_getProof paths. Operators running Sepolia need to upgrade before 13:53:36 UTC on October 6, 2026, when the release schedules Amsterdam on the execution layer and Gloas in Caplin at epoch 353024. Fresh amd64 builds now require x86-64-v2 CPU features, and Polygon chain names plus bor flags are gone; those operators are pointed at the 0xPolygon/erigon fork. Changing the receipt storage setting on an existing datadir still needs a new datadir.

  5. Aave asked to renew Umbrella reward allowances through December 2

TokenLogic filed a Direct-to-AIP on September 25, 2026 to renew the Ethereum Collector's allowances to the Umbrella RewardsController for the period ending December 2, 2026. The proposed replacements are 500,000 aEthUSDT, 475,000 aEthUSDC, and 160 aEthWETH, sized from unclaimed rewards as of September 25 plus max-rate emissions through that date. Those amounts replace remaining allowances rather than add to them. The existing 52,730 GHO allowance stays put to cover 22,663 GHO still claimable after AIP 507 ended GHO emissions, and TokenLogic said a separate proposal will renew rewards before December 2.

  6. Magicians draft Portable Spend Grants with rolling and lifetime caps

Chris Madison opened an Ethereum Magicians thread on September 25, 2026 for a draft ERC called Portable Spend Grants. A principal would sign an EIP-712 grant that lets a delegate spend native currency (identified with ERC-7528) and ERC-20 assets under per-call, trailing-window, and lifetime caps, with the digest bound to one chain and an immutable revocation registry. The registry stores remaining usage and does not move funds; a separate executor calls consume in the same transaction as the transfer. Contract accounts can validate with ERC-1271, EIP-7702 delegated accounts can use their own key, and the draft says a zero cap is never treated as unlimited.

  7. Kraken monitors a same-day delay on Ethereum ERC-20 deposits

Kraken opened an incident at 14:11 UTC on September 26, 2026 for delays affecting Ethereum ERC-20 deposits and said withdrawals were still processing. It marked the issue identified at 14:50 UTC and said a fix was being implemented. By 15:01 UTC the status was monitoring, with a note that a fix had been applied, and the incident was still unresolved in that update. The status page also left the USDC-on-Ethereum funding component on degraded performance in the monitoring note.

  8. Ethresear details CHAMP peer pools already shipping in geth 1.17.5

An Ethresear post dated September 24, 2026 by cskiraly describes CHAMP, a set of protected peer pools layered on top of random peer churn. CHAMP shields a small set of champion peers from random dropping while leaving the churn rate unchanged, so drops still land on the unprotected majority (at least 70% of each pool even with all three categories). Quality is scored on independent dimensions instead of one blended score, and two categories only credit a peer when transactions it delivered first are included at the head and later finalized. The design shipped in go-ethereum v1.17.5 as pull request 34702, while request-latency protection, the third dimension, is still in progress in pull request 34771.
