Ethresear.ch: split payloads cut 1 MiB broadcast from 4.9s to 0.73s
Csaba Kiraly posted on Ethresear.ch on September 4, 2026, arguing that whole-payload gossip works today because datacenter builders carry it, not because the protocol is ready for roadmap sizes. In the least favourable setting tested, a 1 MiB payload from a home builder with no datacenter nodes, the segmented design reduced median receiver completion from 4.9 seconds to 0.73 seconds and cut copies received from 4.4 to 1.4. The post would add a bid commitment field at Gloas or Hegota and activate the networking-only rules at Hegota. Payload-due remains half the slot, which is 6 seconds on today's 12-second slots.
ERC-8410 drafts a digest-bound execution plan for keyless wallets
Moody Salem opened GitHub pull request 1992 on September 4, 2026, adding draft ERC-8410, a JSON execution plan that carries an ordered call sequence from software with no keys to the wallet that signs. Magicians thread 29587 is the discussions-to link. The PR ships four digest test vectors, including one cross-checked between independent Rust and JavaScript implementations.
