Bitcoin, ether, and solana opened this Sunday UTC session a little softer, and there was no new U.S. rule overnight. Our market snapshot at 00:14 UTC on October 18, 2026 had Bitcoin at $81,328, down 0.25% over 24 hours, ether at $2,396.23, and Solana at $103.15. XRP sat at $1.29, down 1.35%. Listed crypto market cap sat near $2.74 trillion, with bitcoin dominance about 59.5%. See the Bitcoin history, Ethereum history, and Solana history hubs for how those ranges have traded.
The overnight pile mixed issuer filings with protocol notes. Empery Digital said shareholders elected eight of nine company director nominees after the October 14 annual meeting. The Crypto Company filed a $75,000 private placement that included 3.4683 ETH. Nethermind 2.2.0, Aave V4 caps, Compound, Magicians, Spark, and Kraken fill out this crypto news brief. Yesterday’s October 17 brief still has Strategy’s STRC coupon and Prysm’s Hoodi Gloas clock. For how we timestamp these prints, see how to read a crypto market snapshot.
Empery Digital says shareholders elected eight of nine board nominees
Empery Digital (NASDAQ: EMPD) said on October 15, 2026 that preliminary inspector results from its October 14 annual meeting show shareholders elected eight of the company's director nominees to a nine-member board. The elected slate names Ryan Lane, John Kim, Ian Read, Matthew Homer, Jonathan Foster, Adrian Solgaard, Rohan Chauhan, E. Taylor Robertson, and Aaron T. Morris. Chairman and co-CEO Ryan Lane thanked departing director Örn Ólason and said the firm will keep a bitcoin treasury strategy while expanding into AI infrastructure and data centers. The company said the count is preliminary until the independent inspector certifies final results in a later 8-K.
The Crypto Company sells 97 million shares for $75,000 in cash and ether
The Crypto Company (OTC: CRCW) filed an 8-K accepted October 15, 2026 covering subscription agreements dated October 9. It agreed to issue 97,165,533 common shares for an aggregate $75,000, made up of $65,000 in cash and 3.4683 ETH, in a Rule 506(b) private placement under Section 4(a)(2). One buyer is Three Mile Creek Future LLC, whose managing member is Rafael Furst, the company's chief strategy officer. CEO Ron Levy signed the report on October 13. This is a tiny unregistered sale, not a bitcoin treasury print.
Nethermind 2.2.0 is required for Hoodi's Glamsterdam clock
Nethermind shipped execution-client 2.2.0 on October 16, 2026 at 16:26 UTC. Hoodi nodes must run 2.2.0 or later before Glamsterdam activates on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 17:42:48 UTC (timestamp 1793036568, epoch 132352), and the matching consensus client must already support that fork. The tag folds in 586 pull requests since 2.1.0, turns on EIP-7928 block-access-list rebuilds for finalized ancestors by default, and retunes the code database for 64 KiB contracts and 200 million gas blocks. Most nodes can upgrade in place, but operators who set JsonRpc.Host or JsonRpc.EngineHost to a host name, or who consume Parity-style trace_* output, need the breaking-changes notes first.
LlamaRisk queues USDC and USDT cap raises on Aave V4
LlamaRisk posted Risk Steward cap increases for Aave V4 on October 16, 2026. On the Ethereum Core Hub it would lift the Main Spoke USDC and USDT add caps from 40 million to 50 million each, lift Forex Spoke USDC and USDT add caps from 10 million to 15 million, and lift the Forex USDC draw cap from 3.33 million to 5 million. The Avalanche Core Hub Main Spoke USDt add cap would go from 10 million to 20 million. LlamaRisk said Ethereum Core Hub USDC was 93.2% utilized, with 32.90 million added and 30.67 million drawn, and that the Main Spoke raises sit ahead of upcoming Babylon native BTC collateral listings. The steward said it will implement the changes through the Risk Steward process, not a new governance vote.
Gauntlet asks Compound to renew risk work at $450,000 a year
Gauntlet posted a Year 6 renewal on October 15, 2026 asking for $450,000 a year, paid quarterly in arrears in USDC as four $112,500 installments, for the term September 30, 2026 through September 29, 2027. Compound Foundation said that is $1.85 million below the Year 5 $2.3 million package that included an insolvency fund, and that the fund does not carry into Year 6. The narrower mandate covers risk parameters, interest-rate curves, incentive optimization, and 24/7 monitoring across up to 50 Comets, with treasury work moving to the TMC. Gauntlet said it will keep working at the Year 6 daily prorate if the on-chain vote lands after September 30. The proposal is still in forum feedback and is not an executed vote.
Magicians draft an ERC-20 share token that pays a single dividend asset
A Magicians draft posted October 17, 2026 at 01:22 UTC sketches an application-level ERC for a dividend-paying equity token. The share is an ERC-20. The dividend asset is fixed at construction as ETH (address zero) or one ERC-20, and holders claim in proportion to shares they held, not later buyers. Per-share accounting uses a construction-time scale, and the sample contract uses 2^64. Transfers, mints, and burns settle both sides before the balance changes. The post says an ERC editor still has to assign a number, and that tax, profit pulls, and fee-on-transfer dividend tokens sit outside the standard.
Spark SAEP-24 would let curators cut risk without a governance poll
Phoenix Labs filed SAEP-24 on October 16, 2026 to amend Spark's Risk Curation Framework. The edit would give standing approval, without a poll, to a closed list of curator risk-reduction actions: reducing a cap, removing an allocator or any role that can allocate or raise a cap, and cancelling a pending change for existing Cancellation Reasons. It would also let a cancellation-authority holder cut a cap or deallocate for those reasons other than a curator request, apply Sky Morpho timelock rules in place of the framework's three-day minimum, and drop the Spark USDS Morpho Vault from approved instances after Liquidity Layer deposit and withdraw limits were set to zero. The post says this does not change any onchain contract, role holder, timelock, or cap by itself, and that a simple-majority three-day vote would run in Spark's next weekly cycle if the proposal proceeds.
Kraken is still investigating Conflux deposit delays
Kraken opened an incident at 08:12 UTC on October 16, 2026 for Conflux (CFX) deposit delays on its funding gateway. The status page still showed Investigating when we read it, and said other funding methods were operating normally. Deposits may be delayed. Kraken has not published a resolved timestamp or a root-cause note on this incident page. This is venue plumbing for one alt rail, not a spot bitcoin or ether halt.
