Monday’s tape is flat, but the plumbing is busy. CFTC staff warned event-contract venues off casino-style “American” odds displays, VanEck’s BNB ETF added BitGo as a second custodian, and Trump Media mutually terminated its CRO digital-asset treasury combination with Crypto.com. Fold lined up Lead Bank for bitcoin banking rails, Flash Trade put its Solana perps stack up for sale unless a buyer appears, and Rarible opened a Solana NFT marketplace.
Our CoinGecko market snapshot fetched at 2026-08-10T00:25:58+00:00 showed Bitcoin near $65,017 (about −0.1% over 24 hours), ether near $1,917.56 (−0.4%), and Solana near $76.64 (+0.4%). Total crypto market cap was about $2.30 trillion, with bitcoin dominance near 56.7%. A Lawson convenience-store JPYC trial in Tokyo and Hyperliquid’s builder-deployed perp fee design keep the focus on rails and fee share. Watch custody and perpetual futures mechanics next.
CFTC staff warn event markets off casino-style American odds
On August 7, the CFTC’s Division of Market Oversight and Market Participants Division reminded firms that list, solicit, or accept event contracts to show clear, accurate pricing and not mislead consumers. Staff said “American” odds formats used by casino bookmakers can obscure market depth and pricing impact, and may blur the line between a CFTC-regulated event contract and a higher-margin bookmaking product. The letter ties misleading pricing displays to the federal ban on manipulative devices.
VanEck BNB ETF names BitGo as second BNB custodian
VanEck BNB ETF filed an August 7 Form 8-K saying its sponsor, as agent for the trust, entered a second custodial services agreement with BitGo Bank & Trust, N.A. on August 5. BitGo will hold a separate BNB account for deposits and withdrawals from public addresses, keep trust assets segregated from other customers, and not lend, pledge, or rehypothecate the coins except as authorized or required by law. The filing frames BitGo as a second BNB custodian beside the trust’s existing custody stack.
Trump Media and Crypto.com scrap CRO treasury SPAC deal
Trump Media & Technology Group, Crypto.com, and Yorkville Acquisition filed an August 7 mutual termination of their Business Combination Agreement that would have created Trump Media Group CRO Strategy. The parties cited market conditions and shifting priorities, and said related ancillary documents, including contribution and license agreements, end with the BCA. Separately, the same group said it will not pursue a planned Crypto.com servicing role for certain Yorkville America ETF products.
Fold picks Lead Bank for bitcoin account and trading rails
Fold Holdings said in an August 6 press release furnished on Form 8-K that it selected FDIC-insured Lead Bank as a new banking partner for accounts, deposits, withdrawals, and bitcoin trading. Planned features include passthrough BTC buys from Fold’s FBO balance, ACH and FedWire/FedNow transfers, higher limits, and auto-stack buys from external banks, expected to roll out in phases later this year. Fold said customer accounts are expected to begin transitioning to Lead Bank later in 2026.
Flash Trade puts Solana perps stack up for sale or wind-down
Solana perpetuals venue Flash Trade said it will wind down unless it finds a buyer for its tech stack, brand, and IP, citing direction and a shrinking participant set rather than a cash crunch. Any sale proceeds would go to FAF holders pro rata, with team tokens excluded, and withdrawals stay open while an August 10 holder call sets operational dates. The team said it already paid about $520,000 in USDC revenue share and could not freeze its AMM via MetaDAO to return funds.
HashPort and Lawson demo JPYC payment on a Tokyo POS register
HashPort said it completed a Japan convenience-store stablecoin payment trial with Lawson, linking HashPort Wallet, HashPort Wallet for Biz, and the store’s existing POS so Lawson did not custody a wallet itself. A restricted demo at Lawson Takanawa Gateway City settled a 322-yen JPYC purchase on Polygon through Canal Payment Service’s PAYTREE gateway, with a second phase planned for August 17 covering MetaMask plus USDC, USDT, and JPYC. Public store acceptance timing was not announced.
HIP-3 builder perps let deployers keep up to half Hyperliquid fees
Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 docs let anyone who stakes 500,000 HYPE deploy a perpetual market on HyperCore and operate oracle, leverage, and settlement settings while sharing trading fees with the deployer. CoinDesk’s August 9 read, citing DefiLlama, said protocol revenue has fallen for four quarters even as open interest and volume stayed elevated, with builder-deployed markets now about half of perp volume versus about 2% at the start of 2026. Our DefiLlama fees pull showed Hyperliquid near $624,000 in total fees over the latest 24 hours.
Rarible opens Solana NFT marketplace with Claynosaurz first
Rarible said its marketplace is live on Solana, listing the network beside Ethereum, MegaETH, and Base with dedicated Explore, Mint, and Gacha pages. The launch opened with Claynosaurz as the first featured collection after months of quiet build work, and the company said more Solana collections will onboard in the coming days and weeks. The move puts Rarible into the same Solana NFT venue fight as OpenSea and Magic Eden.
